Give the Gift of a Great Experience This Valentines Day

There are many different types of gifts you can give on Valentines Day - flowers, jewelery, perfume and more. However, the one kind of gift that will leave a lasting impression is that of an experience. Flowers die, chocolates get eaten and jewelery stays in a box, but memories last forever.

The typical Valentines Day date is dinner at a restaurant. It's a tried and true kind of date, but to create a really special experience try something new.

A hot-air balloon ride or helicopter tour is a thrilling experience your partner won't forget. Take lots of pictures, laugh and point out the views together, and then relive the experience over drinks or coffee on the ground. This kind of short flight is a bit expensive, but Valentines Day is the perfect day to indulge in such a treat. Of course, this type of trip is a horrific experience for people with height phobias - so check that your partner isn't terrified of heights before you book a helicopter!

A river cruise is also a romantic excursion to indulge in for Valentines Day. The other participants of the cruise are likely to be couples, so the whole atmosphere will be very romantic. A long cruise might be difficult to schedule into your week, but a short cruise of a few hours can be the perfect date. You could also try to schedule the cruise in the evening, so that you can watch the sun set over the river.

Take a class together on Valentines Day. You could join a massage class, and learn some advanced techniques - this is a gift that will keep on giving throughout your relationship.

Another way to create a memorable experience is to take a trip together. A road trip might be enjoyable if you like driving, or you could plan a weekend getaway nearby. However, don't plan a camping trip without checking with your partner first since many people dislike camping.

A nice, lazy evening at home can also be an enjoyable memory. Don't depend on the TV to provide entertainment, though - rent some DVDs, order some takeout and spend some relaxing times together.

Whatever you do together on Valentines Day, take a few photos to record your day together. Later on, you can print out the photos and create a scrapbook of memories, or you can give your partner a photo-frame keychain with the photos playing in a slideshow.
