How to Make and Send Rakhi to India For Kids

On this rakhi festival let us learn the technique of making Rakhi for the Kids.

Before you start, keep the following list of tools and items ready with you -

Accessories like small toys, Cartoon Characters (small cuttings), Funny Stickers or pictures like Spider man, Pooh, Hanna Montana, Mickey or Krish etc.

Glue or Fevicol.

Raw silk Thread or ready Silk motifs.

Silk ribbon of different colours.

Sharp Knife /Blade/Pair of scissors.

Glittered Stars or beads.

It is fairly simple to make Rakhi for Kids. For new bees it may take make 30 minutes to make Rakhi. For professionals it is barely 10 minutes activity.

Take approximately 12 inches of two strips of narrow satin ribbon of different colours. You may choose the colours based on what kind of motif you are going to use in the centre.

Stick both pieces of ribbon alongside each other so as both the colours are visible. This gives strength to the Rakhi and makes it look more beautiful once it is complete.

Now take the thick bunch of silk thread.Tie it at one end with raw thread and brush it hard so that it becomes soft. Now hold it from the knot and spread the threads carefully and evenly to give it a nice round shape of a Sun flower. You may shred the extra uneven threads.

Alternately you can use readily available silk motifs as a base if you want to avoid above work. Once it is done, Take the band made out of satin ribbons and stick the above made sunflower/readymade silk motifs with the glue in the middle as a base for sticking toys or stickers etc.

Now your base for the Kid's Rakhi is ready, enhance it by sticking toys, stickers or pictures etc of your choice on the motif or sunflower silk base.

Also glue glittered stars or beads along the rakhi band.

Leave your Rakhi to dry now and wrap it in a cellophane sheet. Preserve the Kid's Rakhi for Rakshabandhan.
